It’d be nice to have S3 API compatible object storage. Minio seems to have gone the way of the Dodo, SeaweedFS is a respectable choice. GitHub project here.
The infrastructure of our service is of a shared nature where strong isolation between accounts is critical. SeaweedFS is designed around a distributed, flat namespace model, which makes enforcing per-user boundaries and quotas significantly more complex compared to our current setup.
In a large shared environment like ours, the operational overhead adds considerable complexity that our current infrastructure isn't structured to absorb without meaningful risk to platform stability.
For these reasons, we'll be sticking with our current storage architecture for the foreseeable future. That said, we do continuously review our infrastructure choices, and feedback like yours helps inform that process.
